Sedation Patient Guide

Comfortable dental care for anxious patients: nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation.

Sedation dentistry allows patients who experience anxiety, have a strong gag reflex, or need extensive treatment to receive care in comfort. Dr. Marino has advanced training in IV sedation from his residency at UT Health San Antonio.

Sedation Options

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

Mild sedative inhaled through a nose mask. You remain conscious and can drive home afterward.

Oral Sedation

Prescription sedative taken before your appointment. You will need someone to drive you.

IV Sedation

Deeper sedation delivered through an IV. Most patients have little to no memory of the procedure. A responsible adult must drive you home.
